Bss Based I/q Imbalance Compensation in Communication Receivers in the Presence of Symbol Timing Errors

چکیده
In I/Q processing receivers, matching the amplitudes and phases of the Iand Q-branches is of major concern. In practise, matching can never be perfect in the analog front-end which results in insufficient rejection of the image frequency band. As a consequence, the desired channel signal is interfered by up to 50-100 dB stronger image signal and some kind of imbalance compensation is needed. In this paper, the interference due to imbalancing is modelled by instantaneous linear mixing model and the compensation is carried out by a blind source separation (BSS) method. The effects of symbol timing errors on EASI algorithm based compensation structure are analyzed both analytically and through computer simulations. The obtained results indicate that timing errors degrade the performance of the proposed method. The effects of timing errors can, however, be reduced with proper selection of non-linearity in the EASI algorithm.

A Subspace Method for I/Q Imbalance Estimation in Low-IF Receivers
In low-intermediate-frequency (low-IF) receivers, I/Q imbalance (IQI) causes interference on the desired signal from the blocker signal transmitted over the image frequencies. Conventional approaches for data-aided IQI estimation in zeroIF receivers are not applicable to low-IF receivers. In zero-IF receivers, IQI induces self-interference where the pilots of the image interference are complete...
متن کاملI/Q Imbalance Compensation and Channel Equalization in OFDM Receivers
IQ imbalance that is prominent in Decision-directed architecture can cause significant degradation in the performance of wireless communication systems. In this paper, a discussion of a new algorithm that uses both training and data symbols in a decision-directed fashion to jointly estimate and compensate for the effects of the channel and high receiver I/Q imbalance is presented.
متن کاملPreamble Design for an Efficient I/Q Imbalance Compensation in OFDM Direct-Conversion Receivers
The growing number of different mobile communications standards calls for inexpensive and highly flexible receiver architectures supporting these standards. The direct-conversion receiver is a very attractive candidate for reaching this goal. However, unavoidable imbalances between the Iand the Q-branch of the I/Q demodulator lead to a significant performance degradation at the reception of OFD...
متن کاملBlind I/Q Imbalance Compensation for M-QAM Optical Coherent Systems Based on Pseudo-Rotation
This paper addresses the problem of Inphase/Quadrature (I/Q) imbalance sensitivity of communication systems when it occurs at both Transmitter (TX) and Receiver (RX) sides of an optical coherent system. A novel blind technique is proposed based on the pseudo-rotation of the M-QAM constellation. The pseudo-rotation based compensator is a generic approach, because it does not depend on the modula...
متن کاملBlind I/Q Signal Separation-Based Solutions for Receiver Signal Processing
This paper introduces some novel digital signal processing (DSP)-based approaches to some of the most fundamental tasks of radio receivers, namely, channel equalization, carrier synchronization, and I/Q mismatch compensation. The leading principle is to show that all these problems can be solved blindly (i.e., without training signals) by forcing the I and Q components of the observed data as i...
